GRAFTON – Mayor David DiVencenzo appointed Tim Strah to serve the remainder of Jason Strah’s term on Council.

DiVencenzo made the announcement at Tuesday night’s Council meeting, said Village Administrator Joe Price.

Tim Strah is the father of Jason Strah. Jason Strah resigned Sept. 18 from his position of Councilman at-large after buying a house in Eaton Township. His resignation was effective immediately. He was first elected to Council in 2013, and again in 2017.

Tim Strah said his first reaction was excitement.

“It’s not very often that your son takes the lead and you follow,” Tim Strah said.

Prior to being named Councilman at-large, Tim Strah said his son gave him a bit of advice on small-town politics.

“This is something new and challenging, and I am excited,” Tim Strah said. “I plan to continue what my son and the mayor have planned for the village of Grafton and I look forward to working for the village residents.”

Tim Strah, who is employed as a lead engineer at Jones Lang LaSalle in Brecksville, has served the Grafton community as a volunteer fireman for more than 20 years. He also has been involved in committees at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Grafton.

Other candidates vying for the position included Ann McDonald, Robert Brandel and Gregory Wood.
