LORAIN — The Lorain Coast Guard rescued two men in a capsized boat thanks to the call of a local Good Samaritan on Tuesday morning.

Gerry Del Valle saw two men on a boat heading out on Lake Erie while parked by the Black River facing the lighthouse about 11 a.m. After about 20 minutes, Del Valle saw the men capsize in their 12-foot boat into the waters and called 911.

Coast guard officials arrived about 11:55 a.m. and hauled the men out of the water, who showed signs of hypothermia and rushed them to EMS. The Lorain Coast Guard Station had the water temperature recorded at 62 degrees.

Coast guard officials later retrieved the boat from the water. The location and the current condition of the men are unknown at this time.
