ELYRIA – It’s not December, but that is not stopping the organizers of two Christmas in July events set for this weekend from getting people into the holiday spirit with The Chronicle-Telegram’s Not Forgotten Box in mind.
Starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Chris Hyle, owner of Chris’s Place, will host the bar’s third annual Christmas in July Party at 515 Clark St. The plan is for fun, festivities, food and raffles, with the goal of receiving dozens of new and unwrapped toys for the newspaper’s annual toy drive held in conjunction with the Elyria Salvation Army.
McCall Motorsports will host its third annual Classic Car Cruise-in from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Sorrento Ristorante & Pizzeria at 5223 Detroit Road in Sheffield. This is a passion project for brothers Steve McCall, Pat McCall, Andy McCall and Andy’s son, Andrew McCall.
“Myself, my brothers and nephew decided to do something for the kids for Christmas,” Steve McCall said. “The Not Forgotten Box helps so many kids every year and we are happy to support it.”
Participants and spectators are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or a $10 cash donation.
From a 1901 Chevy to a 2019 Corvette, McCall said the cruise-in is perfect for any kind of car enthusiast.
“Once you start talking about doing something for the kids, everyone will show up,” he said.
