LORAIN — Two men were arrested Monday in connection to an October home invasion that left Jim Popiel — known better by his radio name of Jim Allen — injured.
According to a Lorain Police Department news release, both suspects are from Lorain and were arrested on juvenile warrants for several crimes including aggravated burglary, felonious assault and kidnapping.
The charges stem from an Oct. 26 incident where two men entered the Regina Avenue home of the longtime educator and radio personality about 2:45 a.m. and struck him in the face while asking him where his money was.
The duo left with Popiel’s wallet and cell phone.
According to the release, both suspects were juveniles at the time of the incident and are being held in the Lorain County Juvenile Detention Facility. They have since turned 18, and it’s “anticipated that both suspects will have hearings to have their cases bound over to the adult system.”
The Chronicle-Telegram generally does not name juvenile suspects — even those being considered for adult charges — until the bind-over to Common Pleas Court is decided.
