The area is bracing for a winter storm that starts with freezing rain before dropping several inches of snow throughout Northern Ohio.

Avon, Grafton and Lorain are already enforcing snow parking bans, and Lorain County Common Pleas, Juvenile, Probate and Domestic Relations courts closed at noon today, as did Lorain County Community College. Tonight’s Alex Bevan show at LCCC’s Stocker Arts Center is also canceled. Guests with tickets can get a refund or exchange them for tomorrow’s ticket. To get a refund, visit the box office from 12-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, or call 440-366-4040.

Lorain County and points west are under a winter weather advisory until 7 p.m., and Cuyahoga County and points east are under a winter storm until 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Most area school districts canceled classes today in anticipation of inclement weather, and all sporting events scheduled for tonight — and some tomorrow — have been postponed.
