Troopers: Driver crashes after overdose

CARLISLE TWP. – A man who troopers say overdosed on heroin took out an electric pole when he crashed on Indian Hollow Road, causing power outages to the area and beyond shortly before noon today.

The electricity flickered in Elyria and was out for about 10 minutes at the Chestnut Commons Shopping Center when Jeffrey Millum, 40, of Grafton, drove off the roadway on Indian Hollow Road south of Slife Road, according to state Highway Patrol Lt. Carlos Smith. Power remained out for homes close to the crash.

Smith said troopers were trying to find Millum’s Chevrolet Silverado after three separate calls were made to 911 about his erratic driving.

Millum was unresponsive when firefighters from Carlisle Township arrived at the scene but Smith said Millum “came back to immediately” with a dose of naloxone. He was transported to the hospital to be treated for some cuts to his face and nose.
