Fire officials: Mom inadvertently runs over son

NORTH RIDGEVILLE – A 12-year-old boy is recovering from cuts and burns after his mother accidentally ran him over in the driveway of their home.

Fire Chief John Reese said the call came in about 5:48 p.m. about a boy stuck under a car on Quails Nest Lane.

When police arrived, they were able to lift up the car with a jack and get the boy out, Reese said.

The boy was treated for multiple cuts and burns from the exhaust pipe, Reese said, and was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

“He was lying on the ground face down and the mother didn’t realize he was there and pulled around another car and drove onto him,” Reese said.

He said she realized her son was under the car when she heard him yelling.
