CARLISLE TWP. — An Elyria man was killed Friday night in a motorcycle crash on Grafton Road.
Andrew Johnson, 37, of Elyria, was traveling northwest on Grafton Road, south of Hope Court, on a 2004 Yamaha XV1700 about 9:30 p.m. when he lost control and was ejected. Johnson landed in the southbound lane of Grafton Road, and was struck by a Ford vehicle, according to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The Ford was driven by Vivian Lowery, 56, of LaGrange. Lowery, who was was checked by first responders at the scene, was not injured in the crash.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries by the Lorain County deputy coroner. Johnson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the release.
Troopers are investigating what caused Johnson to lose control of his motorcycle. Alcohol or drug use is unknown at this time, according to the release.
