ELYRIA — Emma Adkins just wanted some doughnuts for her friends and a drink for herself — specifically a medium dark roast iced coffee with three creams and four pumps of caramel swirl flavoring.

Yes, she was that detailed in the description of her favorite Dunkin Donuts beverage Wednesday morning.

The 19-year-old walked into the North Abbe Road location with a plan, but learned at the register that not only would she leave with coffee and doughnuts, but the franchise also gave her $1,000 in cold, hard cash — a tie-in to the introduction of frozen coffee to the menu.

“This is so surreal,” Adkins of Sheffield Lake said. “I come here every day.”

Adkins also won free frozen coffee for the month and store representatives handed every customer in the store while Adkins was there a $5 gift card.

When asked if she would be frivolous or responsible with the windfall?

Adkins, who will attend Lorain County Community College in the fall, said she will save the bulk of the money for school.

“Maybe, I will get a few things, but not coffee,” she said.
