ELYRIA TWP. – A 73-year-old man was struck by a car Tuesday evening while crossing Griswold Road.
Lt. Daniel Ashdown of the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office said the man was crossing the roadway in front of 41812 Griswold Road wearing dark clothing. The incident happened at 6:48 p.m.
Ashdown said the man was taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medial Center then flown by LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. The pedestrian’s condition is not available.
The driver, a 49-year-old man, was going east on Griswold Road and conditions were wet, rainy, and dark when the collision occurred, Ashdown said. Speed and alcohol “do not appear to be contributing factors to the collision,” Ashdown said.
The collision is under investigation by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office.
Ashdown did not release names of the driver or the victim.
