If you’re looking for a way to keep active, get information about health and fitness, and have fun all at once — Lorain County Fitness Walks is for you!
The fitness walk is a weekly walking group, meeting in Oberlin, and is free and open to all ages.
** Please note, this will event will take place rain or shine**
When do the Fitness Walks start?
The first walk is Monday, May 7, 2012 from 5-6 p.m. at the Lorain County MetroParks SplashZone facilities, located at 95 West Hamilton Rd., Oberlin, Ohio 44074. Beginning at 5 p.m., walkers will pick up a pedometer, bottle of water and register for a chance to win prizes. At 5:10 p.m., Dr. McMillion from Mercy Primary Care Office in Oberlin, will provide a 3-5 minute talk addressing the health benefits of walking and knowing your health numbers. The talk will be followed by a 30-minute group walk where you have the opportunity to discuss questions with the Dr. McMillion, enjoy time outdoors, and get to know fellow walkers. Following the walk, participants can pick up a goodie bag and another bottle of water.
The Lorain County Fitness Walks are sponsored by the Lorain County General Health District, WOBL 1320AM, WDLW 1380AM, Mercy and the Lorain County MetroParks.
The Lorain County Fitness Walks will feature health and fitness topics shared by a local expert every week. Complimentary blood pressure measurement will also be available. WOBL/WDLW personalities will be joining the walking group too – so, get active and explore Lorain County!
Mark your calendar for upcoming Lorain County Fitness Walks! Join a walk whenever you have time in your schedule, weekly commitments are not necessary.
