Obituary
Robert R. Veard, Jr., 68, of Amherst, died Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Community Health Partners, following a one month illness. Robert was born December 9, 1939 in Elyria to the late, Robert R. and Mary Jane (nee Vayda) Veard, Sr. He was a life resident of the Lorain County area.
Robert was a 1957 graduate of Elyria High School. At the age of 14, he began to work at the Elyria Bowling Center where he remained for 13 years as a janitor. In 1965 he was employed as a bottle inspector at the Pepsi Cola Plant in Elyria and he worked there until 1972. For three years, he worked at the McDonalds in North Ridgeville and then in 1975, he began working as an assembler at the Murray Ridge Workshop where he remained until retirement in 2006.
Robert was known to be a dependable employee, having never missed a workday.
Survivors include his brother, Jon R. (Joy) Veard of Amherst; sister, Loretta J. (Don) Noe of Lorain; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Gail Moyes.
Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst, Thursday, December 4, 2008 from 6 to 8 P.M. The funeral service will be Friday, December 5, 2008 at 10 A.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Lawrence Martello, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
