Louis M. Cherry

Obituary

Louis M. Cherry, 87, of Elyria, died Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Elyria Wesleyan Village, following a brief illness. He was born December 9, 1920 in Kipton, and lived in Elyria for most of his life.

Mr. Cherry worked at the former Bendix-Westinghouse Co. in Elyria as a machine operator for 30 years, retiring in 1976. He was a WW II Army veteran and enjoyed collecting antiques, attending flea markets and doing yard work.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine (nee Patterson); sister, Helen Gientkowski of South Amherst; three nephews; and four nieces.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Bertha Latran, Margaret Striecher and Mary Tevesz; and a brother, John Cherry.

There will be no visitation. Private graveside service will be Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Greenlawn Cemetery, West Mansfield.

Memorial contributions can be made to the CHP Regional Foundation/New Life Hospice, 3700 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bauer-Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.(at State Rt. 57), Elyria, OH. 440-322-4626.
