College basketball: UConn men roll to win

 Reserve forward Gavin Edwards scored 17 points to lead a balanced offense, and No. 2 Connecticut beat Delaware State 79-49 on Monday night in Storrs, Conn.
Jerome Dyson had 15 points for the Huskies (7-0), while Hasheem Thabeet added 10 points and tied his career high with 17 rebounds. Jeff Adrien had 12 points.
Donald Johnson led Delaware State (1-9) with 25 points, including 16 in the first half, when his teammates had just two.
UConn led 44-18 going into the break.
No. 16 Syracuse 86, Colgate 51
 Paul Harris had 22 points and host Syracuse celebrated its first appearance in the national rankings in more than a year with an easy victory over Colgate.
Jonny Flynn added 12 points and a season-high seven assists for the Orange (7-0), who have won 43 straight in the series against Colgate and improved to 116-45 against their longtime upstate New York foe.
In its previous two games, Syracuse rallied from 13-point deficits to beat then-No. 22 Kansas in overtime and Virginia. No second-half rally was needed against Colgate (2-3), which trailed 43-13 at halftime.
Harris and Flynn combined to score the Orange’s first 15 points in the first 4:31 of play.
Wisconsin 74,
Virginia Tech 72
Trevon Hughes hit a leaning floater in the lane with 0.9 seconds left and Wisconsin survived a furious rally by host Virginia Tech to win in the opener of the 10th annual ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
Ohio
Kansas 87, Kent State 60

Sherron Collins scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half after early foul trouble and Kansas made 32 of 36 free throws in a rugged win over visiting Kent State. Cole Aldrich had 10 points, 13 rebounds and blocked four shots for Kansas, which scored 31 points off 20 Kent State turnovers.
Savannah State 57, BG 54
Jovonni Shuler scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half and host Savannah State, Georgia, rallied to defeat Bowling Green.
Nate Miller had 12 points and Chris Knight had 10 rebounds for the Falcons.
Bowling Green (3-3) made only 6 of 22 field goals and 11 of 20 free throws.
Nate Miller had 12 points for Bowling Green and Chris Knight had 10 rebounds.
Anthony Jones added 11 points for the Tigers and Raye Bailey had 10.

WOMEN

Epiphanny Prince scored 25 points and Kia Vaughn had 10 points and eight rebounds to help No. 15 Rutgers snap a two-game losing streak by rallying past Temple 64-60 on Monday night in Philadelphia.
Prince scored 19 points in the second half and Rutgers (3-2) avoided its longest skid in five years.
Georgia 77,
East Tennessee St. 57

Angel Robinson scored 19 points and host Georgia romped over East Tennessee State for the 750th win in school history.
Ohio
John Carroll 72, Brockport 42

Lee Jennings threw in 19 points and Whitney Hamilton added 13 as host John Carroll rose to 3-2 on the season. Rachael Price added 10 points while Caitlin Hubach grabbed 7 rebounds.
Heidelberg 74,
Oberlin 65

Alyssa Clark’s season-high 28 points weren’t enough as the visiting Yeowomen couldn’t hold a halftime lead, falling to 0-5 on the season. Heidelberg improved to 2-3.
