Obituary
Edward "Al" Alan Burcl, 58, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at Community Health Partners in Lorain following a sudden illness. He was born March 1, 1950 in Lorain.
Al was raised in Amherst and graduated from Amherst High School where he played in the marching band. He received his Bachelors in Education at Kent State University. He was a lifetime resident of the Amherst and Lorain area. Al was employed as a product handler at Republic Engineering Products/Steel Mill in Lorain for 13 years. He was previously employed for 15 years at Beal Equipment in Elyria, and was a substitute teacher at a Elementary School in Elyria.
Al’s primary work in life, was to be a considerate father, who loved to take care of his family. He enjoyed his custom vans and attending van rallies, he also enjoyed reading science fiction and western books. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union #1104. Al loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Megan of Vermilion; sons, Edward Barton Burcl of Lorain, and Nathan Alan Burcl; daughters, Brianne Rose Burcl of Dumfries,Virginia, Megan Rakosky and her husband Randy and their children Kegan and Kalee of Marblehead; his mother, Vivian Burcl of Amherst; brother, Dennis Mark Burcl of Lorain; and sister, Susan Comley and her husband Ralph of Lorain; nephew, Joshua Burcl of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Walter Burcl in 1989; and his infant brother Jay Grant Burcl.
Friends may call Friday, November 21, 2008 from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 10 A.M. at the funeral home. The Minister Candy Besenfelder will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
