Campaign for school levy
Hundreds of campaign volunteers are expected to gather 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the General Johnnie Wilson Middle School gymnasium to recruit more voters to support the Lorain school district’s 4.99-mill operations levy.
The program, called Mine+9, is the levy campaign’s second grassroots effort to promote Issue 38, which will appear on the Nov. 4 ballot.
“We know it’s important that the community stands behind this issue, because ultimately it’s Lorain’s future,” school board member Raul Ramos said.
Mine+9 allows volunteers to “adopt” their friends, co-workers and relatives to make sure they are informed about the issue.
