Area motorsports: Cavalcade fills up Sandusky weekend

The Annual Miller Lite Cavalcade got under way Friday at Sandusky Speedway and runs through Sunday.
Today’s program includes qualifying and heat races for the Buckeye Super Sprints, Modifieds, Sportsman and Pure Stocks.
The Spectator Stocks will run a complete program capped by a 12-lap feature tonight, with trophies to the top 10 finishers.
The North American Mini-Champ Racing Association (NAMRA) Mini Indys will also run a compete show. The minis look like quarter-scale versions of the Champ Cars that run in excess of 200 mph, except that these cars are powered by snowmobile engines.
Pit gates open today at 10 a.m. with hot laps and grandstand admission at noon, qualifying at 3 and racing at 6:30. Admission is $10, $5 ages 6-12, free to ages 5 and under and those with a military ID. A pit pass is $25.
Sunday’s show will be made up of B-mains and feature races. The Spectator Stocks will run a complete program with the 20-lap feature winner receiving a 5-foot trophy.
The Buckeye Super Sprints 30-lap feature will pay $800 to win, $300 to start, while the Modified 30-lap main pays $800, $125 to start. The Sportsman 30-lap feature is worth $500 and the Pure Stock 30-lapper pays $400 to win.
Pit gates open at 10 a.m., hot laps and grandstand admission at 11 a.m. and racing at 2. Admission will be $15 and $5 ages 6-12. Admission is free to ages 5 and under and those with military ID. A pit pass is $25.
Coming up next Saturday night at Sandusky is the rescheduled MSA/Oswego Wing Challenge Series, and Season Championship Night for the Sportsman, Pure Stock and Spectator Stock divisions. Admission will be $20, $5 ages 6-12, free to ages 5 and under and those with military ID. Pit gates open at 1 p.m. with hot laps and grandstand admission at 2, qualifying is 4:30 and racing at 6:30. Not closed after all
What was originally scheduled to be an off night at Lorain County Speedway will now be a full night of racing and special events.
The E-Mods have a $500-to-win feature while the Limited Late Models feature pays $350 to win. The Street Stock main is worth $250, while a 4-foot trophy will go to the winner of the Charger feature.
The Road Course Warriors will be in action and the Dirt Trucks from Hilltop and Lakeville speedways will be making their second appearence of the season. Parking Lot Drags and a Kids’ Penny Toss will be held. A school bus figure-8 race will complete the program.
Gates open at 3 p.m. with qualifying at 5 and racing at 7. Admission is $10, $5 ages 6-12, ages 5 and under admitted free.
Coming up next Saturday at LCS will be the S.T.A.R.Z. Hall of Fame Night.

Just the regulars
A full program featuring the Junior Dragsters, Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Super Bike and Stock classes will be the main attraction tonight at Summit Motorsports Park.
Gates open at 9 a.m. with time trials at 9:30 a.m. and racing at 10:45 a.m.

The Carlisle Township Fire Department will be holding its 2nd Annual Car & Bike Show today.
