Amherst officer indicted

ELYRIA — An Amherst police officer has been indicted for unauthorized use of property.
Kurt Oehlstrom Sr., 31, was suspended last week after the indictment. He has been with the department for about six years, according to a news release from Amherst police.
Assistant Lorain County Prosecutor Dave Muhek said the investigation centered on the use of computer equipment by Oehlstrom, but he could provide no additional details about the investigation.
The release said the complaint was filed against Oehlstrom two years ago, and he has been under investigation since then.
Amherst police did not return calls seeking additional information Monday.
The indictment indicates that the crime Oehlstrom is accused of committing took place Sept. 23, 2006.
Also charged in the case is Stephanie Oehlstrom, 31, who also is charged with unauthorized use of property.
Both Oehlstroms — whose relationship was unclear Monday — could receive up to a year in prison if convicted of the felony charges against them.
Both were freed on bond after turning themselves in at the Lorain County Jail last week.
