Obituary
Michael John Sislow, 67, of Amherst, passed away Friday, September 5, 2008 at his home following a lengthly illness. He was born June 25, 1941 in Amherst, where he was a lifetime resident. Michael served in the United States Army.
He was employed as a Quality Control Inspector at General Motors in Elyria, Parma and New Jersey for 29 years before retiring in 1993. Michael was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. He enjoyed family gatherings, spending time at the ocean, golfing, Chevy Monte Carlo cars, Casino’s and music including the "Danger Brothers" group. Michael’s famous saying was "Livin, Livin, Livin".
Survivors include his son, Michael "Mick" Jon Sislow of Amherst Township; daughters, Denise (Dean) Radcliffe of Lorain, Sherry (Jeff) Boden of Amherst and Cathie (Craig) Bohl of Stow; mother of his children, Sandra Hendrix of Elyria; grandchildren, Craig Bohl, Bobby Greuter, Leigha and Aneesa Radcliffe, Michael Sislow; brother, Robert Sislow of Lorain; and his sisters, Jean (Glen) Hardwick of South Amherst and Dolores Mouhlas of Parma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Amelia Sislow (nee Mack).
Friends may call Wednesday, September 10, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing Prayers will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 10 A.M. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Rev. Fr. James F. Mazanec, will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
