Teens slice each other with knives

ELYRIA — Two teenagers were each sliced with knives during an altercation Monday afternoon.

An 18-year-old received the worst of it — a gash more than an inch in length and half-an-inch deep — when he went to an Oberlin Road apartment around 5 p.m. and demanded his cell phone charger from a 13-year-old boy.

The stories differed, but the 18-year-old told police the 13-year-old began striking him, and although he attempted to defend himself, the boy sliced him along his left shoulder blade, according to the report.

The 13-year-old — who had already had an outstanding warrant issued through the Lorain County Detention Home and was entered as a runaway — told police the 18-year-old punched him when he answered the door and a fight ensued, the report said.

During the fight, the 18-year-old sliced him with a pocket knife before the two were broken apart by the 13-year-old boy’s grandfather.

The 13-year-old was arrested on his previous warrant but was later charged with felonious assault and turned over to the detention home.

The 18-year-old was treated at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria for his injury.

Shots fired after drug-deal theft

ELYRIA — A drug deal gone bad resulted in multiple gunshots being fired Monday night on Middle Avenue.

A 24-year-old man told police a man was supposed to sell him a pound of marijuana for $800, but when he showed up with the money the man put a gun to his head and stole his money instead.

The man gave up the $800, but after he got back to his home, he decided he would chase the robber.

He said he found and chased the robber, who opened fire on him, according to the police report.

He even observed several of those shots striking near his feet, the report said.

The gunman wasn’t caught, but the 24-year-old man agreed to sign charges against him of aggravated robbery and felonious assault.
