High school roundup: Avon spikes Fairview in volleyball win

 FAIRVIEW PARK — Sarah Ladegaard’s 15 kills and Paige Matisak’s five aces helped Avon pull out a five-game victory over Fairview in a West Shore Conference match Tuesday.
Kenzie Berkheimer had 28 assists and Lindsay Koehler had 13 digs for Avon (1-1, 1-0 WSC). Fairview (0-1, 0-1 WSC) was led by Jackie Compton with 15 points and four aces.

Vermilion 18-18-17
BAY VILLAGE — Pam Urwin had nine kills and 14 digs as Bay beat Vermilion in a WSC match.
Sarah Vick had 11 blocks (seven solo) and Bridget Doughty had 12 points and 31 assists for Bay (1-0, 1-0 WSC). Vermilion (0-3, 0-1) was led by Katie Karres with six kills and Leah Baron with 12 assists.
Rocky River 25-25-25, North Ridgeville 13-12-18
NORTH RIDGEVILLE — Maureen Kessler had 12 kills and Molly McCarthy had 42 assists as Rocky River won in WSC play.
Anne Henderson had eight digs and Rachel Crow had 10 blocks for North Ridgeville (0-2, 0-1 WSC).
Olmsted Falls 25-25-25, Midpark 2-6-12
MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS —Lauren Whyte had 13 kills and Brittany Snider added nine kills as Olmsted Falls (3-0) downed Midpark (0-1) in a Southwestern Conference match. Dayna Roberts had 24 assists and Angie Bush had two block kills for Falls.

AMHERST — Deme Morales had eight kills and eight digs as Amherst rolled in an SWC match. Lauren Percival was 51-of-51 setting with 22 assists and Ashley Aponte served 25 chances with no errors for Amherst (1-1, 1-0 SWC).

SULLIVAN —  Ali Gendron’s 21 kills and 14 service points powered Brookside in a Patriot Athletic Conference match.
Kyleigh Whitsel had 45 assists and four aces for Brookside (2-0, 1-0 PAC). Amber Wiley added 13 digs and four aces, Tina Giusti and Brianne Skolnicki had nine kills each and Steffany Seiler had five blocks for the Cardinals.

LaGRANGE — Casidy Gregory’s 11 kills led Keystone to a non-conference victory in the season opener.
Keystone’s Samantha Watts and Erin Gallagher had eight kills each. Jocelyn Andersen had 32 assists and Amy Ricciardi was 19-of-19 serving for the ’Cats.

ELYRIA — Chelsea Pyle served 16 points and Kelsey Meyers had eight kills for Open Door in an independent match. Courtney Dunckel had nine digs for Open Door.

SOUTH AMHERST — Matt Schneider shot a 36 to lead Amherst to victories over two Southwestern Conference rivals Tuesday at Dragon Ranch.
Amherst shot 154 to 173 for Brecksville and 189 for Midpark.
