Crafters, get ready for holiday show at EC
Crafters are wanted for the Elyria Catholic Holiday Craft Show, which will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 15. Crafters who are interested in participating can enjoy several perks, including assistance loading and unloading their wares, and free coffee and pastries.
Early bird registration applications postmarked by Oct. 10 are $35, or $40 if electric hook-up is needed. For more information or an application packet, call Gina Morris at (440) 748-3349 or Rita Price at (440) 327-6983.
Parks and Rec jobs
The Elyria Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting part-time applications for the following positions at the North Park Ice Arena: Ice Rink managers, skate guards, lesson instructors and concession. Aquarium Society auction
The Lorain County Aquarium Society will hold a tropical fish, aquarium and supplies auction 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 13 at College Heights Baptist Church, 980 N. Abbe Road.
The auction will start at noon and the public is welcome to come, buy and sell wares.
St. Jude Festival
The 24th annual St. Jude Parish Festival will have everything to make this year’s festival worth coming to. All are invited to the festival from noon to 9 p.m. Aug. 31.
Attendees can enjoy meals of barbecue chicken and ribs from noon until 6 p.m. provided by Smith’s Catering, as well as grilled bratwurst and pierogies, then take a turn at karaoke from 1 to 4 p.m. or play Texas Hold ’Em, bingo or “Are you Smarter than a St. Jude Student?”
The day will include basketball and soccer shootouts competitions, raffles, a Chinese auction, and face painting and a caricaturist clown for the kids.
The biggest event of the day will be a chance to win a 2008 Chevy Aveo donated by Jack Matia Chevrolet.
Get your old-school groove on
Are you a fan of old-school music? Well, the Lorain Old School Groove is holding its second annual reunion weekend Aug. 29. to 31 at the Elyria Holiday Inn.
It will be a time to enjoy good music with like-minded musical souls. There will be events both Friday and Saturday night with pool parties, dessert cook-offs and a sendoff breakfast Sunday morning.
The cost of the weekend is $75 per person or $145 per couple, which includes admission to all events, refreshments, meals and a goodie bag.
