Dual Lorain drug busts net gun cache
Stephen Szucs | The Chronicle-Telegram
LORAIN — Narcotics and SWAT officers busted two crack houses Wednesday.
Lorain police received simultaneous search warrants for both residences — 1522 and 1526 Fillmore Ave. — as a result of a drug investigation started by Detective Chris Colon in June.
At 1522 Fillmore Ave., police seized several grams of crack cocaine and more than $1,400 in cash. They also located three guns, including a 9 mm handgun, a .38-caliber handgun and a Tec-9 submachine gun, Watkins said.
Pele Smith, 24, was the sole occupant of the home and was charged with possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, trafficking in crack cocaine and having weapons under disability.
At 1526 Fillmore Ave., police seized more than five grams of crack cocaine and three guns — two .38-caliber guns and a 9 mm, along with several boxes of rounds for each.
Nicholas Stiles, 29, was the primary tenant there and was charged with permitting drug abuse and possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Christian McAfee, 18, also was charged with possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, as was a 17-year-old boy at 1526 Fillmore. Anthony Harrison, 18, was charged with obstructing official business.
Police believe the houses were trafficking drugs independently of each other, but each was known as a place where drugs could easily be purchased.
“These houses raided today were obviously the main sources for neighbors’ complaints and criminal activity in the area,” Watkins said.

I’m impressed, the investigation started in June and is OVER already. This street must have been a nightmare to live on.

I agree Big T, I’ll bet that Tec-9 was a semiautomatic version of that pistol and not a machine gun as reported.
Haxor - they just raided a house on Bell Ave. last week and recovered crack cocaine, and AR-15 and other guns.

Matt , my point is , Lorain police did this on there own , Elyria dont do anything like that unless the US Marshals are here to hold there hand . And that is maybe at best a once a year thing . What is Elyria’s Narcotics Departmernt doing the other 364 days a year. Call them once , you will get voicemail because there is not even anyone there to to take your call or report of drug activity! There was a drug house right on furnace steet , and it was reported to the Narco Dept . When there was a stand off at the house they arested one person, when the police on the scene were informed that the house was selling drugs , they officer said not to worry because the house was for sale and they would be moving soon ! Now the Jackson family is on Hall Rd terorising that neighboor hood and the people there are crying for help. Will they get it ? probably not … Daryl W Jackson is a felon , shot at a woman and took a woman hostage not too long ago, and i am sure he will be released to go back to selling drugs and shooting guns in the neighborhood soon. While they lived on furnace street there was atleast 4 stand offs with police , they found guns in the house and hard telling what else , but not a peep about them selling drugs .. I watched 3 minuted friends in and out of there 24 hours a day . and nothing was done then , and i bet there wont be anything done in the future !

If watkins doesn’t know what a tech 9 is then don’t believe every thing you read. They always have help from outside agencies. Someone needs to hold their hand. Colon is only in that department because of the chief. Once again LPD very favortism.

Formemo:
I see you have tried to stir the pot by mentioning Colons name and nobody responded. Ok, I’ll bite, but only after doing a little research first. Colon is going on 10yrs at LPD and just got assigned to Narco. Most of the guys on Narco were assigned only after 4-5yrs so where is the favortism?

They were in the city of elyria at 610 furnace street before moving to Hall Road ………….. They are not in the city now , hence it is someone elses problem . But woldnt youthink the Elyria Narco’s would want to grab a collar, no they just waited for them to move , like they didnt want to put the bust on them …. Kinda interesting isent it ?
Sure makes one think, is someone or some dept on the take ? Turning a blind eye ?
