Obituary
Holsey Rucker, Jr., 64, of Wakeman, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at the Stein Hospice Center in Sandusky after a short illness. Holsey was born July 12, 1944 in Oberlin.
Holsey worked in Security and Fire Safety at Ford for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He also was a police officer in Wellington for seven years.
Holsey served in the U.S. Army Special Forces Division First Battalion Green Berets during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Lorain. He enjoyed raising horses.
Survivors include son, Stephen (Jodi) A. Rucker of Bellevue; step-sons, Terrance I. Ransom of Oakland, California, John H. Ransom of Atlanta, Georgia; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Mary Gardner of Wellington, Helen Ann Hopewell of Wellington, Judy Clayton of Cleveland; step-sister, Diane Jones of Oberlin; brothers, Arthur Rucker of Elyria, David Rucker of Oberlin, George Rucker of Lorain; and special friends, Diane and Jim Garner of Wakeman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hosey Rucker Sr.; and mother, Mary Gardner.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, July 18, 2008 at Cowling Funeral Home, 228 South Main St., Oberlin 440-775-1451. There will be a private family burial at a later date.
