Elyria wins 11-2; plays Saturday for state title

UPDATE:
The Elyria Pioneers softball team advanced to the third straight state title championship game after it defeated Mason 11-2 at Firestone Stadium in Akron on Friday afternoon.  Now, the girls will face their nemesis, North Canton Hoover, at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in a rematch of the 2006 title game, which Hoover won.

Woman convicted of shooting estranged husband gets 13 years

 

ELYRIA —An Avon woman convicted of trying to murder her estranged husband while he slept was sentenced to 13 years in prison Friday in county Common Pleas Court.
Pamela Carrasquillo, 53, was convicted in March on charges stemming from the January 2007 shooting of her Herminio Carrasquillo.
