These were the prices at the Sunoco station on East Avenue in Elyria Thursday.

The previous record was $3.61, which was set last Friday.

Among the state’s major metro areas, prices now range from an average of $3.64 around Youngstown to $3.70 in Akron. It’s $3.79 here.

Some analysts predict prices could rise to a national average of $4 in coming weeks. Prices are already that high in Hawaii and California.
