Gardeners, beware: It could get frosty

Associated Press

ELYRIA – Gardeners could have cause for concern early Wednesday, when temperatures are expected to drop low enough to harm plants.

The National Weather Service is cautioning that frost will set in between 1 and 9 a.m. and it could get as cold as 32 degrees.

The warning is for the northern half of the state, but the Weather Service says things will probably be worst around Lake Erie. Some of the usual cold spots along the shoreline could see temps in the upper 20s for an hour or two late tonight.

Once the sun comes up Wednesday, the county is looking at a high near 56 degrees with gentle northwest breezes of 5 to 7 mph, forecasters said.
