Hospice offers grief counseling for youth
Grief counseling for young children and teens is available 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday at the Old Firehouse Community Center at Lake Road and state Route 83.
Marita Pompeani, a bereavement specialist with Western Reserve Hospice, will run the discussion and activity group. She’ll give the children an opportunity to talk about their feelings and get professional guidance.
Seminar on coping with ADHD
Kids who suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder can be a handful.
But a seminar from 7 to 9 p.m. April 16 could give parents the assistance they need to help their children get good grades while dealing with ADHD.School Counselor Sherrell Conrady will host the meeting at the Avon High School media center. Counselor Rene Reinker and teacher Sherry Pietch will hold another session at the same time, focusing on prescription medication abuse among teens and what parents should know.

Chocolate bunnies multiply at new store
Catherine Pastron is up to her elbows in chocolate bunnies right now.
“We don’t need any more rabbits,” one of her employees yelled jokingly at her Saturday as she opened her new candy store at 36718 Detroit Road.
Pastron also owns Catherine’s Chocolates in Amherst and Westlake. She said she’s outgrown her Amherst store — especially now, at one of the busiest seasons on a chocolatier’s calendar.
Easter has snuck up on a lot of people this year and they’re racing to get chocolate eggs before next Sunday, she said.
“Chocolate is what binds us all together,” she said.
Avon Lake Realtors rank tops in nation
Three Realtors at Howard Hannah Smythe Cramer’s Avon Lake office were ranked in the top five percent of all Realtors in 2007.
Realty Alliance, an association of the largest real estate brokerage firms in the country, chose Christina Higgins, Dan Malloy and Annette Pisco for special recognition for high sales, the company said. Higgins is a two-year veteran seller and Malloy and Pisco joined the company last year.
They were honored Feb. 19 at a company award ceremony in Cleveland.
