Zuber beats Berner
AVON LAKE – It took three times, but Karl “KC’’ Zuber finally will be known as mayor.
After unsuccessfully running for mayor in 1993 and 2001, Zuber bested incumbent Mayor Robert J. Berner on Tuesday night.
Zuber collected 3,268 votes to Berner’s 2,307 votes, or 58.6 percent to 41.4 percent, according to unofficial election results.

ELYRIA — County voters overwhelmingly shot down a sales tax hike Tuesday, defeating by a 4-to-1 margin a measure that county commissioners insisted was vital to avoiding budget cuts and layoffs in the coming years.
