The verdict is in on which high-flying pooch has been named top dog by the Buckeye Dock Dogs Association.
Last weekend, the group held a long-jump competition in Sheffield, where owners from across the state and beyond watched their dogs leap from a dock into a giant pool.
Here are the winners:
Les Lamparski, of Midland, Mich., took first place in the pro competition when his dog Lucy jumped a whopping 23 feet during the final competition on Sunday. Lamparski walked away with $225.
Bridget Telencio, of Painsville, won second place in the pro competition when her dog Lance launched 22.11 feet, earning $150 for the proud handler.
Dean Skillman, of Lambertville, Mich., landed third place when his dog Wylie landed at the 21.11 foot mark. He’ll be driving home with $75 in gas money.
Fourth place went to Toby Rodock when his dog leaped 20.07 feet into the water. Rodock walked away with $50.
In the amateur division, Michael McTighe, of Euclid, took first when his dog Guinness jumped 17.07 feet. McTighe won $100.
Second place went to Kim Reis, of Wellington, whose dog Katie jumped 16.08 feet. The prize for this feat was $75.
Cathy Bibbs-Cornell, of Berea, landed third place and $50 when her dog Shammie jumped 16.06 feet.
James Linde, of Rockville, Md., won fourth place and $25 when his dog Tasha leaped 13.06 feet.
